Drawing Outdoors in the Landscape

Lisnabreeny/ Cregagh Glen/ Clonduff community centre , Belfast . Friday 21st August 10 am to 4 pm. ( limited to 10 places)

Experimenting with the materials and methods we use to draw helps us to interpret the landscape in new ways. It also takes us out of our ‘comfort zone’ as artists.

This workshop will allow you to interpret the landscape in different ways by using pencils, paints, charcoal and pastels as well as combining some of these. You will also try different types ( and sizes) of paper and card to work on This will allow you to create different images and moods . This is an opportunity to explore ways of drawing you may not have tried before.

You will make a series of studies which will allow you to;

  • Use a range of material and gestures to express different characteristics of the landscape
  • combine different materials
  • work on different surfaces and scales

We will conclude the session at the nearby Clonduff community centre where we will review the work produced outdoors and you will be shown ways in which you can refine your skills.
